What is Meljen's Designs?

Meljen's Designs is primarily a digital stamp collection created by me, Melissa 'meljen' Jenkins (the artist). It got its start on MyGraficO in 2009 as a clipart / digital stamp design line. I then decided to venture into making detailed digital stamps, and started selling them on Etsy in early 2010. Shortly thereafter I found a design team, moved to my own shop, and then later moved all of my digital stamps to Whimsy Stamps where they remained exclusively for over a year. All of my digital stamp products are now at home here in their own store once more!

What are digital stamps?

Digital stamps are like rubber stamps, but are are presented as a digital file that you can store on your computer. You can open them in a program like Microsoft Word, re-size them, rotate them, flip them and print them out as many times as you want! They are convenient because you don't have to clean them, they don't get worn out, and they are available instantly when you order them. No waiting for shipping. Also...easy storage! Just pop them into a file folder on your computer!

How do I print out the stamps?

You can print them out by simply opening the file in a picture viewer on your computer. (You can even print them on a full page for your kids to color!) You can also insert them into a writing program like Microsoft Word. There, you can edit the image as you please and then print it out. It helps to have the rulers visible in your program so you can see how big the stamp will be. (An example of this is shown here: CLICK HERE)

Help! My ink is smearing!

If you try coloring with a 'wet' medium on your printed out digital stamp and the printed ink starts bleeding into your colors, try printing out the design again and heat setting it. You can do this with a crafter's heat gun or your hair dryer. You can also let the printed paper sit out for a day or so and see if that helps set the ink.

Other setting methods include using an art setting spray like 'Fixatif' or even aerosol hair spray. Simply spray lightly over the entire image and let it try for a while before coloring.

Try different types of papers. Georgia Pacific cardstock has worked well for me and other crafters, and you can get it at almost any local store. An important note is that laser printers will work much better with 'wet' coloring methods than inkjet printers.

Can I use your designs commercially?

Yes, as long as you follow my rules. Please visit the Angel Policy page for more details on terms of use for my digital products. Basically, you need to incorporate them in a hand-made, finished project like a card.

For rubber stamps, please visit Whimsy Stamps and review their policies. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Are your designs available as rubber stamps?

Can I share your stamps with my friends?

Please note that sharing my digital products without my permission is not allowed.

However, if you teach a local class you are allowed to use designs of mine that might be in your collection to help your students. Please use discretion, and give credit to Meljen's Designs as the designer.

You may also print out some stamps to share if you have family and friends or children coming over for crafting time. Of course this means you are welcome to print out my stamps for your own children's crafts as well.

DO NOT obtain, sell or give away my stamps in shares of any kind in digital or printed format without my permission. This includes sending them in emails or posting them somewhere for people to grab.

Instead, you may refer people to my shop or my blog so that they may grab my available freebies and participate in my weekly challenges. I also occasionally do giveaways at Facebook. There are a lot of ways you can spread the word while respecting my designs.
